“I am very impressed by how you all have used this space” -Peter Shapiro, Executive Director, Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County.
On September 7th, we will be hosting a Community Clean Up Day and Block Party to address the broken glass, trash, and asphalt weeds. The Kingdom Plaza sign will be replaced with the Creative Suitland logo designed by New Columbia Signs. Solar lights have been installed to address the lack of outdoor lighting in the parking lot area.
The first phase of renovations took place during the end of July with repairing the roof and mold remediation.
Painting the interior walls will follow in addition to repairing the windows of the Creative Suitland entrance.
All rooms will receive new floors: fresh linoleum tile in the bathrooms and lobby, polished cement in the former sanctuary space turned theater, and hardwood floors in the two dance studios and office space now known as the Creative Suitland gallery (pictured above). The theater will become a prime area for live performances (i.e. poetry, theater, music) and the dance hall (formerly the banquet hall) is ideal for instruction, rehearsal, and many more activities.
Our tentative date for a soft-opening is scheduled to begin November 2019. In the meantime, we are establishing partnerships with local artists and organizations that have supported our initiative since the beginning.
We have much more in store beyond this process, stay tuned!
