We are thrilled to announce the return of the Promethean Inferno: Battle of Wordsmiths Poetry Slam. After a brief hiatus, we’re taking our passion of poetic expression to new heights by expanding this annual event into a 3-day festival to offer an enriching experience for poets, writers, performers, and poetry enthusiasts. In addition to the poetry slam, we are introducing a mixer event to provide a space for artists to connect, collaborate, and fuel each other’s creativity. Then we are presenting an array of creative development workshops, designed to inspire and hone your craft.

This event has been sponsored by the Cynipid Fund and the Prince George's Arts and Humanities Council.
 

SCHEDULE

Thursday, July 25th 6-9PM - "THE POETIC FUNCTION"

  • A networking mixer with artisan vendors, creative development workshop, food, cypher, and good vibes. Donation-based entry. 

  • The creative development workshop will be announced very soon! Tickets will go on sale at a later date.

 

Friday, July 26th 6-10PM - "THE PRELUDE"

  • Contestants will compete in mini-bouts. 

 

Saturday, July 27th 6-10PM - "THE FINAL STAGE"

  • The final day of the festival will feature morning creative development workshops and the final competition with 15 poets.

  • The creative development workshop will be announced very soon! Tickets will go on sale at a later date.

Do you have a workshop you would like to present at the Battle of Wordsmiths? July 25th—27th? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are seeking dynamic individuals to lead engaging and transformative sessions that inspire participants to explore new depths of expression, hone their craft, and amplify their voices on stage. Whether you specialize in poetry, spoken word, storytelling, or performance art, we want to hear from you!

As a workshop facilitator, you'll have the opportunity to:
*Share your expertise and passion with aspiring poets and performers.
*Spark connectivity and creativity among participants.
*Receive access to all festival events.
*Receive a honorarium for your time.
