ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
"A native of the Washington DC Metro Area, Anton Hooper was born in Washington, DC… and has lived in Prince George's County, Maryland since he could safely leave the hospital. For all of his life (with the exception of the four years in college in Northern, MD), he has decided to remain in the DC Area and is a consistent figure here in a place known for people coming and going often. He treats the area, rightfully, as his home, and works diligently to make certain that all who comes across is made to feel welcome in that home.
Anton’s dancing journey began in a change encounter at a bar called The Clarendon Grill in Arlington in 2002. While he’s had a bit of a rough time starting, over the years he has grown and matured as a dancer… and was always willing to show other’s what he knew. During his time in the DC Latin Dance Scene, he has been:
- An Event Host for the DC Salsa Meetup
- Actively involved in assisting with The DC Bachata Congress (now DC Bachata Experience, or DCBX)
- A Beginner’s Salsa Instructor for Lucky Strikes from 2010 to 2014.
Besides being a fun hobby and providing a form of exercise and stress release, dancing has provided Anton with a sense of community and friendship… and he looks forward to sharing that with other people!"
